HOT FUZZ ZINGS IT TO JAMES BOND
British writers Simon Pegg and Edgar Wright paid their movie horror respects to zombies in Shaun of The Dead and now they’ve set their sights on the detective world in Hot Fuzz about a top London cop transferred to a posh community where nothing goes on except garden parties until suspicious grisly accidents begin to occur. |
Simon who describes Sergeant Nicholas Angel as a cross between Dr. Spock, Dirty Harry and a robot couldn’t contain his excitement as he got to fire thousands of rounds at the former James Bond, Timothy Dalton. |
“But he starts off he’s like an android. He is like the T 1000, that’s why I was running like that cause that’s the T 1000 run. The most fun was diving through the air and firing two guns at once, or actually chasing Tim and Jim in the police car firing out the window was just brilliant fun. We must’ve fired off a thousand rounds that day and it was just like hurling through Hatfield House grounds with a really loud blank firing pistol. And having James Bond fire back at me.” |
Pegg was thrilled that Dalton was getting into the action just as much. |
“It didn’t escape me at all that all the times I was fighting Tim I was actually scrapping with Bond and winning as well. So to be leaning out of a speeding police car and seeing Timothy Dalton firing a big hand gun back at me, I can’t even tell you how much fun that was. And the great thing was as well that Tim who’s a very respected experienced actor and who has been in two James Bond films came out of the end of that and said, ‘that was the most fun I’ve ever had.’ I was like, ‘yes!’ Two Bond films and its Hot Fuzz that gives him the biggest thrill which is result.” |
Edgar Wright who directed the film was lying down in the back of the police car shooting all the action getting a face full of mud and grit as it was speeding at 80 miles an hour. Hot Fuzz opens Friday in theaters. |
