HIVES DVD SHOWCASES STRONG LIVE SHOW
The Hives are releasing their DVD, Tussels In Brussels, which is slated for release on November 22. Aside from the band’s mini-movie documentary done in the third-person, from the point of a fictional journalist, the band has tons of great performances, showcasing their energetic live show. |
The Hives are known for their live shows and vocalist Pelle Almqvist said that playing live is where they come from and that’s their core strength. He was asked why many fans say their live shows are better than their albums. |
“Because that was all there was in the beginning. We weren’t we didn’t form with a record deal. We started with nothing and what you can do is play to people. Because you can just…If you get a gasoline powered generator you can play to anybody. So that’s what we had. And also it’s such an important thing for us. It’s like, that’s what we do we do most of the time. We play live to people. We don’t spend most of the time making records. I don’t know. It’s just what we love, and we just happen to be pretty good at it, I guess. So that’s why we do it a lot.” |
Tussels In Brussels features footage of the band live as well as their mini-movie that was hosted by Sopranos star and E-Street Band member Little Steven. The band got a lot of exposure in the States from Stevens syndicated radio show, Underground Garage. |
Meanwhile, according to The Hives’s website, the band cleaned up for their hometown Grammy Awards. They took home awards for Artist of the year, Album of the year, Rock group of the year, Video of the year and Producer of the year, sharing that one with studio wizkid Pelle Unnerfeldt. |
