HIM EMBRACING THEIR OPPORTUNITY IN AMERICA
HIM talk about being the first Finnish Band to go Gold in America, which is quite an accomplishment in this day and age. |
Finlands own, H.I.M have recently released their latest album ‘Venus Doom’ and the album is the bands follow up to ‘Dark Light’ which went Gold in America and marked the first time a band from Finland went Gold in The U.S. With ‘Venus Doom’ the band returns to their heavy roots and on the strength of the first single ‘The Kiss of Dawn’ the album reached #12 in The U.S. |
We caught up with lead vocalist Ville Valo and bassist Mikko Paananen to discuss their thoughts on being the first band from Finland to go Gold in America with their last album ‘Dark Light.’ |
“It made our parents really proud. It was all over the press in Finland. Nowadays achieving Gold status anywhere in the world is pretty tough with illegal downloads and stuff like that. So, I feel happy and I don’t know kind of numb.” |
After gathering more and more fans with each passing album and with each passing tour, H.I.M are clearly making a name for themselves around the world. Ville also talked about how much the band is embracing touring the world and winning fans over. |
“It’s like being on Mushrooms all the time. You never know what’s behind the next corner and you never know what’s happening. Sometimes it’s fun and sometimes it’s terrible but that’s what makes it exciting. It’s like living in a Salvador Dali painting. Very few people have the possibility of doing that, so I’m embracing the opportunity to do that with all my power.” |
H.I.M are currently touring America with dates extending until December 2nd at The Nokia Theater in New York. The band will then head to Europe with dates currently booked until March in Italy. |
