HENRY ROLLINS REVISITS BLACK FLAG TO BENEFIT WEST MEMPHIS 3
Henry Rollins, who now spends his time doing spoken word tours and performing for our troops around the world, took some time to reflect on the last Rollins Band album “Rise Above: 24 Black Flag Songs to Benefit the West Memphis Three” and why it was so special for him to revist his Black Flag catalog from his early career as their lead vocalist. The album consists of covers of Black Flag songs by the Rollins Band, with vocalists ranging from Iggy Pop, Corey Taylor (Slipknot), Chuck D, Hank Williams III, Mike Patton (Faith No More), Lemmy (Motorhead), Tom Araya (Slayer), Ice T, Nick Oliveri (Queens of the Stoneage) and Tim Armstrong and Lars Frederiksen (Rancid) to name a few. |
We caught up with Henry Rollins recently to get his thoughts on being apart of the project to help The West Memphis 3. |
Henry Rollins also talked about his many friends that lent their time and talents to the Rise Above project. |
Rollins even admitted he went through Black Flag withdrawls after the brief tour’s last show in Japan. |
Henry Rollins recently released his spoken word CD/DVD package “Provoked” which takes his fans through one of his spoken word tours. Henry Rollins has one spoken word show scheduled for 2009 which will take place Feb 6th in Santa Rosa, CA. Clearly Rollins will be taking some inspiration in the celebration of having George W Bush leave office after the past 8 long years. |
