HELMET CON-ED INTO WARPED
(VIDEO) Helmet is set to join this year’s Warped Tour, which starts on Thursday, but the band has a special in… |
Helmet is set to release their new album, Monochrome, next month, and they’ve just finished the new video for their new single, “Gone.” The band features Page Hamilton and Chris Traynor, plus new drummer Mike Jost and Jeremy Chatelain. |
Hamilton told us they’re venturing out on the Warped Tour, and considering the band’s release on WarCon Records it was a no-brainer. |
“It made perfect sense. Kevin [Lyman] and Bob [Chippardi] started this label, Warped and Concrete, so WarCon, and we knew it would be a great opportunity to get out on a tour with a bunch of bands that we had never heard of before and do some other stuff. It was kind of a no-brainer. I knew Bob for a long time, but when I first met Kevin and Jim in L.A., we went out to dinner and I knew I liked them because we got like four bottles of wine and got blasted. I was like, ‘These guys are cool.’ Anybody who will ply me with alcohol. (in a drunken voice) ‘Yeah, Where do I sign?'” |
Hamilton said they wanted to do the Warped Tour earlier in their career, and the band has committed to the whole trek this summer. |
“The Warped Tour, it just never panned out for whatever reasons and this is like the perfect opportunity. We had six or eight months to think about it and go, ‘OK, we’re gonna do that.’ And Kevin [Lyman] was like, ‘Do you want to do a week, two weeks, a half a tour, the the whole tour? ‘We’ll do the whole f–kin’ tour.'” |
Helmet’s “Gone” is going for radio ads later this month, and their new album, Monochrome, is set for a July 18th release. |
