HELLOGOODBYE IS NUMBER ONE TO EX-BLINK MARK HOPPUS
Hellogoodbye has gone Number One, but not on any of the popular charts. The quirky pop/modern rock band has scored Number One status with former Blink 182 and current +44 bassist/singer/songwriter Mark Hoppus. In a recent interview conducted by Fall Out Boy’s Pete Wentz, Hoppus was asked by Wentz about his podcast. Wentz asked Hoppus what his favorite interview was, and he said Hellogoodbye because they had him rolling on the floor with laughter. |
We asked Hellogoodbye’s Jesse Kurvink and Forrest Kline about being Hoppus’s favorite podcast interview. |
[Kurvink] “I was really stoked.” [Kline] “The Hoppus, dude. The Hop.” [Kurvink] “What can you even say? What can you say about Mark Hoppus?” [Kline] “All you can say is… Mark Hoppus, and that sums it up. I think most people understand what you mean by that. You just say, ‘Hoppus'” [Kurvink] “I didn’t even call anyone and tell anybody about that. I just saw it, and I let it sink inside me, you know what I mean?” [Kline] “Yeah, it’s like give us a couple of months and THEN we’ll talk about it.” [Kurvink] “…just like the first time we met Mark Hoppus on the first real show of our first real tour, and I was like, ‘Wow. This is weird.'” [Kline] “It’s like Matt Pryor…” [Kurvink] “What do you do? You just let it go.” |
Hellogoodbye’s chart and sales succeess is nothing to sneeze at. While they’re not topping Justin Timberlake anytime soon, their album Zombies! Aliens! Vampires! Dinosaurs! is exactly 1/3 of the way to platinum, their song “Here (In Your Arms)” has garnered over 800,000 digital sales, and they’ve enjoyed 46 million plays combined on internet stalwarts Myspace and Purevolume. |
