HATEBREED READY FOR SUPREMACY TOUR, HUNG WITH SECOND STAGERS FOR OZZFEST
(VIDEO) OzzFest closed its doors on August 13, but Mainstagers Hatebreed talked to us about keeping in touch with their second stage roots. |
Hatebreed is set to embark on a tour of the United States in support of their August 29th debut album, Supremacy, and the band tuned up on the mainstage of OzzFest this year. The tour wrapped up earlier this month, but the band performed on the main stage for the first time this year. |
Hatebreed cut its teeth on the seconds stage of OzzFest, and they’ve paid respects to their hardcore metal bretheren Unearth, A Life Once Lost, All That Remains, and others. The band’s drummer Matt Byrne talked about the band still visiting the second stage. |
“I mean every band over there is a friend of ours. We’ve toured with them or done shows with them in some capacity in the past anyway. We all kinda came from the same background and everything, so just, all of us together — our little community — we’re just doing a high profile tour together. It’s pretty crazy that all of us, bands from our genre or whatever, are working their way up and just doing their thing — and getting more and more recognized.” |
Byrne also talked about the adjustments of graduating from the second stage to the main stage. |
“Well, for us personally, there’s a change going from a smaller stage to a bigger stage right off the bat. From doing the festival in past years the production themselves, the people who have run the tour have definitely locked down, come down harder on the rules of the tour and what you can and can do, where you can or can’t go. Everyone’s really cool about it, but I just know in past years as far as the hang-out goes or the aftershow hang out or whatever, the party vibe, it’s definitely been a lot stronger in past years. I think people doing some crazy stuff, getting into trouble will warrant the powerst that be to say, ‘We’ve got to make some rules here.” So that’s a little different, too.” |
Hatebreed’s tour officially begins September 1 in Worcester, Massacusetts, but there will be a special show at CBGB’s on August 30. The tour is slated to run through October 12. |
