HARRY POTTER SPELL BREAKS TRANSFORMERS AT THE BOX OFFICE
Harry Potter And The Order of The Phoenix beats Transformers at the box office. |
Harry Potter and The Order of The Phoenix waved their magic wand over Transformers at the box office this weekend taking in $77 million over $36 million. |
Director David Yates who took the lead from first Potter director Chris Columbus says the success is a testament to the Potter kids having their feet on the ground. |
“It’s a remarkable feat to choose not just three kids who would immediately kind of capture the empathy and the imagination of such a vast audience but three human beings who throughout this extraordinary kind of global circus retained their sense of themselves. They could’ve turned into three monsters because they’re superstars and the truth is they’re not. And I’ve arrived and I’ve arrived at a really exciting time for me and for them because now they want to really spread their wings.” |
On a Michael Bay set there is no pussy footing around especially when the military is involved. The threat of that caused Josh Duhamel to whip himself into shape. |
“We went through basic training for three days at Fort Irwin just outside of Barstow. And I had heard about a lot of these military movies and how they put these people through real boot camp sort of things so I was like OK I got to get in shape. Michael Bay: On my sets especially if you’re doing military stuff it’s tough. You don’t get to go back to your trailer. We’re shooting in Alamagoro. It was 120. I’m not like a very cushy director in terms of we’re here, we’re here because I shoot really fast. It was hard because they had a lot of gear and they had running and yelling and shooting.” |
At the global box office Transformers holds their number one spot with a total of $97.2 million. |
