HARRISON FORD, THE FIGHTER
When it comes to action movie star Harrison Ford is no senior citizen. At 64 years old Ford still insists on doing all his own stunts which he did for Firewall currently available in the widescreen version on DVD. As a security specialist for a bank, Ford’s character Jack Stanfield will stop at nothing to protect his family when they are held for ransom by a psychopath played by Paul Bettany. Ford talks about the fight scenes with Bettany. |
Paul Bettany can currently be seen beating himself up in the Da Vinci Code but in Firewall he gets to throw Indiana Jones threw through a glass window. Bettany says his inflated salary for the film overrides the pain he had to endure. |
“They know the movements of the family. They know the habits of the family and they’re able to get into the house by taking advantage of those routines that they’ve observed. But they’ll basically strong arm their way into the house when I’m not there. There’s a relatively brutal intense fight at the end of the film. And I still, I enjoy doing that kind of stuff. I like working the choreography of a fight scene, working out the details of it and doing it. I like hanging out with guys, rolling around on the floor.” |
Ford was so dedicated to getting the fight scene just right that he would personally rebuild the window with the crew to shoot it again.rnrnrn |
“All of the fight scenes really come very late in the day and there’s nothing really you can do. You’re gonna get knocked about and get aches and pains but you get paid a ridiculous amount of money to get a couple of bruises. There’s nothing to really complain about.” |
