HANNIBAL RISING PROPS STOLEN AND BROKEN
In Hannibal Rising Hannibal Lecter swiftly beheads one of his victims, and apparently it was an authentic job as somebody ran off with the severed head from the props department. |
Director Peter Webber was quite amused by another body part that was nixed from the set. |
“There’s a character called Dortlich who’s head is severed in the course of the movie and that head was stolen by someone. And the other thing is that there is a scene with a body that Gaspard is working on and it’s a full size replica human body including the genitals. But somebody stole the genitals, stabbed them off and took them away. So someone at home has got a large rubber penis and a rubber head and I don’t know what they’re doing with it.” |
Thankfully the iconic mask that Hannibal tries on for the first time was safe and sound because there was only one. Gaspard Ulliel found out soon enough how difficult it was to replace it. |
“It’s a very nice moment obviously. It’s not a big scene in the film but I remember on the set I had thrills doing it. It’s a very iconic moment. It’s fun because this mask is supposed to fit on my face with an elastic and I don’t know that you or Dino wanted the mask to fit directly on the face without the elastic so when we took off the elastic the mask was too big so I tried to push in both sides to make it fit on my face but I broke it and we had only one. Peter: That was a great moment like the day is running out and the mask is broken and there’s only one and the prop guys are trying to fix it. The prop guys were not pleased with him I can tell you.” |
Hannibal Rising opens Friday in theaters. |
