“I can only go by my autobiographical experience with it is that it is a fabulous scavenger hunt about very powerful stuff and that combination is really irresistible. By and large everybody knows some aspect of their religious theology that the book deals with and so that alone kind of makes everybody feel smart almost. We’re familiar with so many of the major players as they exist off screen. In the guise of Professor Langdon and Sophie they get to go off on this great, great treasure hunt. When I read it I was as flummoxed as anybody was on the first pass. I couldn’t figure out what the next clue was. I couldn’t figure out the anagrams or what any of the symbols were. When you go back and read it again the second time you say, ‘how did I miss that?’ Of course it had to be that easy.” |
