HALLE BERRY FIGHTS FOR FIRE

Halle Berry stars in Things We Lost In The Fire as a woman grieving from the loss of her husband played by David Duchovny, who becomes comforted by his best friend, Benecio Del Toro’s down and out drug addict. |
The film features some very heavy emotional scenes dealing with the grief and loss of the love of her character’s life. Believe it or not, the Oscar winner says she fought for the chance to play the role. |
“This has been an amazing journey because this is a movie that I had to fight really hard for so any time you fight really hard for something and you want something and there’s a role that you read and I just knew that I had to play this. And to have been chosen and be given the opportunity to bring this to life, it’s really gratifying at the end of the day to say, ‘I did it,’ and I convinced them to give me an opportunity to give me a shot at something that I just in my soul wanted to do.” |
Halle wanted to play the part of Audrey so she could discover a side of herself that she’s never known before. |
“It could’ve been anybody but it’s a great role for a woman and for me it’s something I’d never done before. Any time that I read a character that I’ve never done that I want to do, if it feels vaguely familiar then I’ve kind of done that character; there’s no real reason for me to want to do it again. This was all new territory, all new territory for me on so many levels.” |
Things We Lost In The Fire is currently playing in theaters. Halle is currently shooting Tulia directed by John Singleton which reunites her with her Monster’s Ball co-star Billy Bob Thornton. |
