HAIRSPRAY SPRAYS HAPPINESS

Hairspray is all about spreading happiness to everyone who watches it according to John Travolta and Nikki Blonsky.

Hairspray stars John Travolta and Nikki Blonsky as mother and daughter team Edna and Tracy Turnblad have the effect of singing and dancing their troubles away on screen.

Nikki and John say once you’ve watched the movie you can’t help but feel happy.

“And I think there’s something for everybody in it. So I think that’s what appeals so much is that it’s just sheer joy. And who doesn’t want to be happy. I want to be happy. John: I think that the great mark of a movie is you can go in feeling one way and you come out feeling a different way and a better way then you know you’ve done something. And that’s been the one remark I’ve heard the most is that people go in not knowing what to expect or feeling a little down they come out feeling happy.”

Nikki Blonsky is still absorbing the happiness the role has given her personally.

“Slowly, slowly but surely. I haven’t totally grasped the whole picture at hand. I probably won’t be able to for a very long time because it’s just too unbelievable to me. But slowly little bits and pieces, like going to my hotel and seeing my face on the side of a building across the street. I’m glad I wasn’t driving cause I would’ve crashed the car.”

Hairspray is currently playing in theaters.
