GUY RITCHIE RATHER NOT REVOLVE AROUND MONEY
Guy Ritchie reveals his philosophy about money and power in Revolver. |
The film Revolver for director Guy Ritchie is a meditation on the seduction of power which starts off sweet for Jason Statham’s hot shot gambler, but he ultimately pays the consequence for his winning streak when he beats the wrong opponent, Ray Liotta’s dangerous gangster. |
Guy who started from humble beginnings before his initial success with Lock, Stock and Two Smoking Barrels talks about his relationship to money and power. |
“I’m not sure that I have a particular philosophy on money. I have sort of a broader philosophy on all things that have to do with power. So whether it be power, influence, money, all these are sort of different forms of puffing ourselves up.” |
Guy says having power can be a blessing and a curse. |
“One should recognize exactly what power is, the up side and the down side of power and how beguiling power is and how beguiling money is and how beguiling good looks are. Anyone that has a currency within the physical domain their curses are their blessings and their blessings are their curses. And I’m sure anyone that’s lived for more than 10 years has seen the flip side of a blessing. The movie is an explanation about that very concept.” |
Revolver which also stars The Soprano’s Vincent Pastore and Andre Benjamin as rival gangsters to Liotta’s crew opens Friday December 7th in limited theaters. |
