GREEN DAY, 50 CENT AND MARIAH CAREY SPEARHEAD THE AMERICAN MUSIC AW
Both Green Day and 50 Cent took home six Billboard Awards each at last night’s (Tuesday, December 6) awards ceremony from Las Vegas. 50 won the big awards, Artist Of The Year, and Album Of The Year, while Green Day’s top honors included Rock Artist Of The Year and Rock Song Of The Year for “Boulevard Of Broken Dreams.” |
The night also included performances by Green Day, Ciara, and a special duet between Slim Thug and Gwen Stefani. Mariah Carey won five awards on the night including Female R&B/Hip Hop Artist Of The Year. At the ceremony the comeback artist of the year thanked those that helped her and her fans. |

Rocker Tom Petty was presented with the Century Award for lifetime achievement, and he was introduced by Green Day. Other multiple award winners included American Idol winner Carrie Underwood, Shakira, and Gwen Stefani. The telecast aired on Fox TV. |
