Gov’t Mule have released, ‘High & Mighty,’ the highly anticipated follow up to 2004’s Deja Voodoo, and the band considers this to be quite simply the best record that Gov’t Mule has ever made. It was recorded in Austin Texas at Willie Nelson’s Pedernales Studios in early 2006, with additional recording at Hoboken’s Water Music. ‘High & Mighty’ contains 11 new & original Warren Haynes songs and easily demonstrates once again that Haynes continues to write amazing songs with a soulful voice combined with a stunning guitar virtuosity. |
We caught up with Haynes recently to discuss what might be his next studio project and now the ‘High and Mighty’ is on the shelves might there be an opportunity to record with Gregg Allman again. The two last collaborated on The Allman Brothers last release, the critically acclaimed ‘Hittin’ the Note.’ |
“Gregg and I have been talking about doing some writing coming up. I don’t know if there’s any plans to make another record, but we felt so strongly about the last batch of songs that we wrote together that we definitely want to do that again and see where it goes. I know Gregg would like to make a solo record, and the last experience was very pleasant and we wrote some great songs, so it just makes sense to do it when we get a chance, you know?” |
Gov’t Mule have announced the first portion of the High and Mighty Fall Tour which will begin October 5th in Los Angeles, Ca. Special Guest Donavon Frankenreiter will be opening all dates, with Gov’t Mule closing out the show each night with two sets.
