GODSMACK SULLY ERNA COMPLETES ECLECTIC SOLO ALBUM
Godsmack lead vocalist Sully Erna has completed his first solo album and he will look to release the album in April of 2010, which coincidentally will the right around the same time Godsmack will release “Saints and Sinners” which is their highly anticipated follow up to 2006’s “IV.” While Godsmack has been on a hiatus for the past several years, Erna decided the time was right to finally record a solo album and it will be far different than anything Godsmack has ever done in the past. With songs built around primal grooves, Brazilian and African rhythms as well as Native American beats, Erna’s album touches into the World Music genre. |
Artisan News recently caught up with Sully Erna to get his thoughts on his solo album being vastly different than anything Godsmack fans have seen in the past. |
“It’s done. It’s finished and it’s going to drop some where around April with the new Godsmack record. It’s very eclectic. It’s very intellectual and it’s more like world music. All of it’s done with hand drumming so it’s very native American and Brazilian and African at times or whatever. So, it’s pretty cool there’s skits on there where there’s like seven drummers playing at the same time. I think it’s going to be a very specific departure from anything Godsmack has ever done.” |
Sully also mentioned he recorded with the percussionist from Dead Can Dance and that the album will also feature Lisa Guyer, who had performed backing vocals for the song “Hollow” on Godsmack’s previous album. Look for Godsmack to release “Saints and Sinners” sometime in March or April of 2010. Fans can also catch “The Making of Saints & Sinners” webisodes at rockpit.com, which takes the viewer into a behind the scenes peak at the making of Godsmack’s upcoming album. Although no tour dates have been announced as of press time, Godsmack are set to tour in support of “Saints & Sinners” with a extensive run of tour dates taking the band throughout the world. |
