GNARLS BARKLEY BACK IN STUDIO WORKING ON IMPULSIVE NEW ALBUM
Danger Mouse and Cee Lo, known collectively as Gnarls Barkley, are back in the studio working on their follow up album to their critically acclaimed Grammy Award winning debut ‘St. Elsewhere.’ ‘St Elsewhere spawned the immensely successful single ‘Crazy’ which won The Grammy for Best Urban Alternative Performance and catapulted the album to a win for Best Alternative Album. The start to the recording process for their much anticipated follow up album happened during off days on the road while on the bands latest tour with The Red Hot Chili Peppers. |
We caught up with Cee Lo recently to talk about the song writing direction the band is taking and the recording process of the as of yet untitled sophomore album. |
“That’s probably the difference, we have a little bit more of a direction this time around. But it’s still very spontaneous and impulsive so far the way we’ve done it because we just happened to be out on the road and we had an off day and we’d toss it up in the air ‘Hey you want to go into the studio?’ IAnd it’s like ‘Yeah!’ So that’s kind of cool to add a little element of surprise to it.” |
You can catch the video for Gnarls Barkley’s latest single ‘Smiley Faces’ which is already being aired on MTV. Gnarls Barkley were also in the recent Sports Illustrated Swim Suit Edition as the magazine tried to sell more copies by pairing Swimsuit Models with Rock and Roll Stars. Look for the band to head down under for a run of shows in March and April including a performance at the V Festival in Queensland and New South Wales Australia March 31st and April 1st. Although no definitive release date has been set, look for the album to hopefully be released in 2007. |
