FRIENDS AND FAMILY REMEMBER BIGGIE
March 9th marks the tenth anniversary of the murder of arguably the greatest rapper of all times, the Notorious B.I.G. The rapper died just six weeks before his twenty-fifth birthday and two weeks before the release of his sophomore opus, Life After Death. The album would go on to sell over ten million copies and his fans would mourn him for over. |
The rapper’s murder remains unsolved and his mother Voletta Wallace won a minor legal victory last year when she was awarded $1 million for her legal fees by a judge as she continues her wrongful death lawsuit against the Los Angeles Police Deoartment. The case is slated to go to trial this summer. |
“Man I just want to say you know Biggie, Biggie did a lot for the industry you know what ‘m sayin’? I mean we still miss him. It’s still like it’s fresh in our minds you know what I’m sayin’, today? We still miss him. We still wish he was alive, him and Tupac.” |
Bone Thugs-N-Harmony’s Krayzie Bone shared his thoughts on Biggie. He said, |
Interestingly enough if the Notorious B.I.G.’s talents were in the genes rap fans may have something to look forward to according to his 13 year-old daughter T’Yanna Wallace. According to her, Biggie’s son and her little brother, Christopher Wallace Jr or CJ as firends and family call him, has some skills. T’Yanna said, “He can rap really good. He’s still young, but if you were to put him in the dark and have him rap one of my dad’s songs, you might think it was my dad. His voice sounds just like him. It’s scary.” |
In related news, Bad Boy Records released the Notorious B.I.G.’s Greatest Hits last week with two previously unreleased songs. The set will be the last posthumous release from the rapper. |
