Freddy Rodriguez stars in Harsh Times as Mike Alonzo, an out of work slacker who takes refuge in his laziness with his best buddy Jim Davis played by Christian Bale home from the war in Iraq and ready to party. |
Christian and Freddy did some heavy male bonding getting to know each other when the cameras weren’t rolling while waiting for their scene spending quality time together in a car. |
“It is about dysfunctional male bonding. It’s a great way to put it. It’s also about just how when those kinds of relationships are formed how manipulative friends could be. I think all people go through phases in their lives. There’s a great line in the film that says, ‘hey man we’re about to hit the third floor, we’re about to be 30.’ It’s sad that these guys are about to be 30 and they’re still doing the same thing when they were probably about 18 years old.” |
No man in their right mind would leave Eva Longoria sitting at home to get wasted with their friends but in the film Freddy’s character does just that to party with Christian Bale’s character to celebrate his promotion to the Feds. |
“Yeah we were spending 14 hours a day, 15 hours a day in a car together. It was great. I like Christian a whole lot. We definitely bonded as friends. I think that’s why it came out so naturally in the film. How could you not? You’re spending 14 hours a day in a car joking around. We talked about everything, life, family, kids, wives, sports.” |
Next Freddy Rodriguez stars in Bobby which revisits the night Robert F. Kennedy was gunned down at the Ambassador Hotel in 1968. He’s be playing a hotel busboy who gets embroiled in the tragedy. |
“Hey man that’s the hold sometimes friends have on other friends. I’m telling you it really exists. I have not personally experienced that but I’ve known people who that’s happened especially when a person is with a girl like Eva for a long time and then the appreciation factor goes out the window. You don’t appreciate the girl. You don’t see her as you see her. You said a girl like Eva and you would leave her, but in his eyes yeah he’s been with her for a long time. You know there’s a certain comfort level there and she’ll be there when he gets back as he says when he leaves, ‘ah she’ll be there when I get back.’” |
