Frankie J. is currently on the way to being the next Latin American superstar, but if not for a wicked Halloween trick, he may not have gotten the opportunity to have his musical development and musical ability nurtured.

The Mexican born artist first got into the country at the age of two, joining members of the family for a Halloween excursion that turned into a Trick for Mexico and a treat for the United States. Frankie told us the amazing details.

“I was crossing the border at the age of two, and I was with my older brother my older sister and an uncle of mine, who was the youngest brother of my dad’s side of the family, who was like a brother of mine because we all grew up in the same era. And my uncle was driving, we’re all in the back seat, it was a Halloween night we were crossing the border from Tijuanna to San Diego. So back then I guess it was just easier to cross the border because they weren’t so..they weren’t asking too many questions. We crossed the border, and the guy just goes, ‘ The guy just goes, ‘What are you bringing home from Mexico?’ [Uncle replied]”Oh just my nieces and nephews we’re coming across to trick or treat. And the guy said said, ‘Fine,’ and we never went back to Tijuanna, never went back to Mexico. We stayed in the United States.”

Meanwhile, Frankie J.’s latest single, “More Than Words,” is currently racing up the CHR radio chart. He released his album, The One, earlier this year, but the single can only be found on the just released dual disc of the album.
