FRACTURE HAD FRACTURED BEGINNING
Justin Bieber has decided he’s going to do something about being the face of a break-out artist…for a good cause as he admits an acne problem. |
The film Fracture almost didn’t get made because director Gregory Hoblit was still feeling the emotional and artistic fallout from a previous job. |
Hoblit was all set to make Emperor Zehnder about photographer Bruno P. Zehnder who dedicated his life to photographing the Emperor Penguins of the Antarctic until the job went south. |
“By not good it was a movie that I had been nursing along for over a year set in Antarctica, set in the world of Emperor Penguins. And we were all set to go and the ships were being loaded and we would go across. We were a month from going out of Christ Church in New Zealand and it all collapsed. I was just like walking into walls.” |
Gregory came out of his funk to direct Fracture but only if some script changes were made namely Ryan Gosling’s character who was originally written as a pot smoking surfer dude who’s dad got him a job at the DAs office to keep him out of trouble. |
“In the course of meeting up with this brilliant guy he begins to take life seriously and stops surfing and smoking dope and going out with his tattooed pole dancer girlfriend begins to pay attention. I wasn’t much interested in that role and evidently Ryan wasn’t either because that’s what he said no to. We reapproached Ryan because not only was it a better role but also because of Tony and Ryan did, he responded. Then we had our movie.” |
In total it took Hoblit three years to make Fracture. He’s currently shooting the thriller Untraceable starring Diane Lane which is set for an early 2008 release date. |
