FOGERTY CHALLENGES DRUMMER TO KICK HIS ASS
John Fogerty challenges drummer Kenny Aronoff to kick his ass, and he does! |
Drummer Kenny Aronoff has played and recorded with all the greats of rock and roll, but there’s one who likes his butt kicked, John Fogerty. Aronoff was behind the kit for Fogerty’s last tour, and after a few studio sessions he’ll once again be drumming for the classic rock legend on his tour dates in 2008. |
Aronoff is perhaps the best in the business. He’s played with the Rolling Stones, Smashing Pumpkins, and his first band John Mellencamp, among an impressive list, but he talked about the one thing he has to keep in mind when on stage with Fogerty. |
“The biggest thing about playing with John Fogerty is kick his ass. I mean, that’s why he’s got me. Nokia Arena, we did a six hour soundcheck and a two hour show with a twenty-minute break in between. That’s like four shows in one day. I mean, I kick ass just by nature. He loves that, but if I don’t and I’m not kicking ass as much he wants, he’ll come right up to me on stage in the show and say, ‘Push me.’ And he’s a perfectionist, so if I miss one hi-hat note, he knows it. He’s totally cool about it, but it’s great working with someone who cares as much as I do about what I do. It’s fantastic. We work really really well together.” |
Despite his more than impressive resume, his services are available to anyone. He even has an email address to contact him on his website, kennyaronoff.com, if you’d like to hire his services. |
