FLEA HOPING LAKERS CAN STICK IT TO PSYCHO ASS RON ARTEST
Red Hot Chili Peppers bassist and notable Laker fan hoping The Lakers can stick it to Ron Artest and The Houston Rockets |
Red Hot Chili Pepper bassist Flea doesn’t hide the fact he’s a diehard Lakers basketball fan. Often seen at The Forum in the glory days and at Staples Center in recent times cheering on the Lakers, Flea was even asked to blog about his thoughts on basketball for The NBA’s website NBA.com. But at The MusiCares MAP benefit on May 8th in Los Angeles honoring his band mate Anthony Kiedis, Flea was clearly focused on The NBA playoff game between The Lakers and The Houston Rockets. Even though he was performing that night in the band The Insects with Anthony Kiedis, Chad Smith, Ronnie Wood of The Rolling Stones, Ivan Neville and Josh Klinghoffer, Flea was keeping tabs on the score of the game. |
Artisan News caught up with Flea on the red carpet at The MusiCares MAP benefit to get his thoughts The Lakers going up against Ron Artest and The Houston Rockets. |
“I’m just hoping The Lakers…The Lakers are up by two right now in the middle of the second quarter. So, I’m just hoping they can open a can of Whoop-Ass on psycho ass Artest and the rest of those fools. I’m just joking about Ron Artest, I actually like Ron Artest.” |
The Insects tore through a cover of The Yardbirds 1965 hit “For Your Love,” “Spoonful” by the likes of Howlin’ Wolf, The Kinks song “All Day And All of The Night” and a few other songs for the show, which benefited The MAP fund, which provides a much needed safety net of critical assistance for musicians in times of need. MusiCares’ services and resources cover a wide range of financial, medical and personal emergencies, and each case is treated with integrity and confidentiality. As of press time The Los Angeles Lakers and Houston Rockets will be playing Game 6 of their best of 7 series with The Lakers leading the series 3 games to 2, however The Rockets will be without Yao Ming for the rest of the year. |
