FIVE FINGER DEATH PUNCH HITS FANS, FAMILY
Five Finger Death Punch have been stirring it up and fans have been breaking bones on Family Values. |
Five Finger Death Punch is the latest signing to the Firm Records — the recording arm of the legendary management company, and they’re making a mark on the Family Values tour. Initially helped by management for the tour with one of their prized clients, Korn, the band’s reputation has taken on a life of its own. |
Fans are responding to their aggressive metal style, and their mosh pits on Family Values are not for the faint of heart. Vocalist Ivan and guitarist Zoltan said that things get wild even for their own tastes. |
[Zoltan] “We have paramedics all over the stage.” [Ivan] “I had a kid yesterday who had his bone protrude through the side of his ankle in the middle of the pit. And I always make sure I warn the kids immediately — and kids at home when you hear me say this get out of the way if you don’t want to get hurt. I mean it because I’m not responsible for ya. I mean we’ve had some serious…and I’ve felt bad about a couple of them, and I’ve said, ‘Dude that’s not what I had intended. I love it when they have respect for each other. I miss the old Pantera pits where they went nuts and they picked each other up. These kids are annhilating each other. It’s great to have that kind of reaction and to know that they’re feeling what we’re feeling, but it’s a little much.” [Zoltan] “I’m saying this to the camera, just chill.” [Ivan] “Be cool to each other. You don’t have to break the dude’s leg open.” |
Zoltan said that the fan with the broken leg got some personal time and assistance from the band. |
“Because he broke his leg. I came out. I threw down my guitar. We just finished the last song, and I came out and I stayed with him until the paramedics picked him up. These are my people. This is how it is. This is our tribe.” |
While this particular Family Values fan was both unlucky and lucky at the same time, don’t look for a break-the-ankle, meet-the-band promotion anytime soon. Five Finger Death Punch’s The Way Of The Fist is currently in stores, and the first single off the disc is “The Bleeding.” |
