FINCH BREAKS UP
(VIDEO) Screamo/punk band Finch has broken up. In an interview before the break-up the band talked about their place in the industry. |
Screamo/punk band Finch has called it a day. A message on the band’s website has confirmed they’ve moved on. The band broke through with their 2002 album, What It Is To Burn, but the band’s style shift for its latest effort, Say Hello To Sunshine, left many fans in the dark. |
Guitarists Alex Linares and Randy Strohmeyer were asked if a career as rock stars in the music business was what they expected it to be. |
[Linares]”Yeah, I don’t remember what I was expecting of it. It’s been pretty interesting. We get to definitely do what we love, which is just travel and play music. So, I guess it’s treated me well. I got to move out of my mom’s house.” [Strohmeyer] “I still live with my parents, but I like it a lot. When you live with your parents you get to spend your money on other things, like dogs. I’m actually getting a British Bulldog, which I’m excited about. So, no (laughs).” |
Strohmeyer was asked if Finch was successful. |
“Yeah, I think Finch has been a success ever since we went on our first tour, to us, you know what I mean? I don’t know about commercially, but personally all we want to do is be a band, and this is all we have to do — is wake up every morning and play Finch songs. And for that to be what gets us by is a dream come true and the best thing I could ever hope for.” |
Now that the members have broken up, or been set free, however you want to look at it, the band has been concentrating on different projects. Strohmeyer and bassist Derrick Doherty are currently in a project with RXB’s Joe Troy called the Quadruple Duo. |
