Pop keyboard and vocal sensation, Ferras is set to release his debut album, ‘Aliens and Rainbows’ and the album, which was produced by The Matrix (Avril Lavigne, Korn) showcases a young musician who is well versed as not only a vocal talent, but as a legitimate song writer as well. Although ‘Aliens and Rainbows,’ hits the street April 1st,Ferras has already performed on the ‘Today’ show and lead single ‘Hollywood’s Not America’ was tapped for two episodes of the hit Fox series ‘American Idol.’ |
We caught up with Ferras to get his thoughts on the journey that was the recording of ‘Aliens and Rainbows.’ |
“The record is really a journey and ‘Aliens and Rainbows’ is about that place you go in your mind when you just want to escape and maybe’s there’s people there or there’s somebody there who understands who you are. So, I wanted to name the record that because I wanted it to be sort of an anthemic record for people who feel the same way. “ |
We also talked with Ferras about having to take a break from his tedious recroding sessions during the making of ‘Aliens and Rainbows’ to clear his head by himself and come back to the sessions with a different perspective. |
“You know I kind of felt like ‘What am I doing?’ This is my first album and I’ve been so excited and in a way it was sort of anticlimactic because I didn’t feel like musically it was happening. But then I needed to cool my head and sort of just take the time to drink some wine on my own and just relax and I did that and I think I’m in a good spot now.” |
Growing up in a small, southern Illinois town, Ferras always felt out of place. The feeling was only compounded when, shortly after his parents’ divorce, his father took him to the airport, promising a trip to Disneyland, but instead kidnapped Ferras away to his homeland in Amman, Jordan. Ferras took solace in the Casio keyboard his father bought him and began writing songs. His mother eventually succeeded in bringing him back to Illinois, but the sense of alienation persisted until they moved to Southern California and he began pursuing a music career in earnest. Ferras’ debut album ‘Aliens & Rainbows’ is currently digitally available on iTunes, but on April 1st, the album will be available at WalMart. |
