Breach star Chris Cooper met with the FBI agent who investigated his character in real life. |
Academy Award winner Chris Cooper stars as FBI agent Robert Hanssen in Breach who was accused of violating the highest level of United States government security, spying for the Russians. |
Cooper and Ryan Phillippe who plays Eric O’Neill, the rookie agent hired to investigate Hanssen both had the opportunity to meet with the real O’Neill which was most helpful to Cooper. |
“Eric O’Neill who was assigned to shadow Hanssen in the final days, the actual Eric O’Neill came here and Ryan and are were able to over a three day period really ask a lot of questions. As I said since there wasn’t any audio or video I’d literally ask Eric, ‘do your best impression of Hanssen.” |
Eric O’Neill talks about being a special consultant on the film to director and co-writer Billy Ray. |
“Throughout the process of writing and conceiving different plot points he wanted to add to his conception of the story. He leaned on me heavily to help him with it. And to give him what I believe is a very accurate portrayal and one that is very accurate from an FBI standpoint. I think that this will be the most accurate FBI movie ever made.” |
Eric hung out with Ryan Phillippe who studied him on and off the set and says he’s extremely happy with the way he is portraying him. |
