FAT JOE IS STILL DOWN WITH ATLANTIC RECORDS

Reports had surfaced that Fat Joe and Atlantic Records were on the outs and that the rapper was in the process of being dropped by the label. Fortunately the reports were false and Fat Joe has actually renegotiated with Atlantic Records and the label will now distribute his Terror Squad label.

Atlantic Records COO and Co-Chairman Craig Kallman said, “Fat Joe is an icon in the hip-hop community — an artist, producer, writer, tastemaker, and entrepreneur with tremendous vision, influence, and creativity. We are proud to have had Fat Joe as a member of the Atlantic family for the past eight years, and we are looking forward to continuing our great relationship with Joe and his Terror Squad label.”

“Every now and then, you know, I think about it, be like, ‘Oh s**t. I’m still here.’ You know what I mean, cats, you know, ain’t here no more like that, so it’s a blessing. Just my will to survive. You know me just wanting to strive to be the best. Me refusing for let people knock me down, you know what I mean? LIke I feed off the hate.”

Fat Joe has been recording since 1993 when he released his debut album, Represent. The rapper talked about his longevity in the rap industry. He said,

Fat Joe is currently working on a pre-album, Crack Music, coming out on Counterflow. It features Jadakiss, Big Pun, Mobb Deep, Paul Wall, Remy Ma, Styles P, and production by Wyclef, LV, Alchemist, Showbiz, and Green Lantern.”

Fat Joe has released four albums since signing with Atlantic Records. His best-selling effort was 2001’s J.O.S.E. (Jealous Ones Still Envy), which was certified platinum for sales of a million copies.
