Family Force 5 are bringing their infectious blend of southern rock straight from Atlanta Georgia. The band which constists of three brothers, Jacob, Salomon and Joshua Olds and Derek Mount and Currin respectively, are currently touring in support of their debut release ‘Business Up Front, Party in the Back.’ We caught up with the band to discuss their blend of hip hop and rock in what the band likes to call ‘Crunk Rock.’ |
Although the band and their fans can only describe their sound as party rock, the Family Force 5 are quite serious about their desire to keep the crowd going with their energy. Soul Glo Activator, AKA Solomon Olds went on to talk about the dirty south and in particular how Atlanta is an influence in their songwriting, style and way of life and they’re proud of that southern heritage. |
“Hey we’re the Family Force Five and we’re from Atlanta, Georgia. ATL in the house. Yeah baby, we do this brand of crunk rock, we call it crunk rock and people are like ‘Hey man what the hell is crunk?’ Basically we’re from the south and crunk means party so i’d say it’s called like party rock. ‘Business Up Front, Party in the Back’ is the name of our record and it represents the Family Force Five style. We’re very serious about our music but at the same time, when you put that twelve song disc on, it ain’t nothin’ but a party.” |
Soul Glow Activator is joined by Crouton, Fatty, Nadaddy and Chap Stique and the band has announced some upcoming shows with Alterbridge and Switchfoot and will continue to stay on the road supporting their album with dates extending until September 4th. The band has also released their second music video for the song ‘Love Addict.’ Check the bands website or myspace page for futher updates and details. |
“Well Atlanta and the South and Southern culture, it’s the way talk, it’s the way we walk, mullets, fried chicken, soul food, respect for your mother, I mean that’s all what it is. We’re all country gentlemen here. We have a song and it’s called ‘Kountry Gentlemen’ and it talks about being raised in the south and it kind of pokes fun at it at the same time. We love man, we love our southern heritage and we’re proud of it.” |
