FALL OUT BOY: PUNK OR POP? Z-100 CHANCE TO OPEN FANS UP
Fall Out Boy brought their brand of pop punk to the stage of Madison Square Garden for Jingle Ball, the festival of the pop radio station of New York City, Z-100. The band was chosen thanks to the popularity of their song “Sugar, We’re Going Down,” and the band was honored to be among the stars. |
Kanye West, Shakira, Sean Paul and several other pop superstars were on-hand and we asked the band how it felt to go from playing a traveling punk festival like Warped to playing a pop festival for screaming teeny-boppers. Pete Wentz explains: |
“Uh, we got to eat food today, and we were in a building that was not 110 degrees inside it. No, I think it’s two totally different aspects of music and it’s weird to be playing with Backstreet Boys and Kanye West and then go to be playing with Thrice and Underoath. But at the end of the day everyone’s a fan of music and hopefully you can be a gateway to people experiencing new bands.” |
Meanwhile, Fall Out Boy is up for Best New Artist at this year’s Grammy Awards, which is sheduled for February 8 at the Staples Center in Los Angeles. The event will be televised on CBS. |
