FAKTION BUILD GRASSROOTS BY NEW TECHNOLOGY
Faktion could be the first success story of the powerful social networking site, myspace.com. The Denton, Texas based band has amassed nearly 26,000 Myspace friends, and music on the band’s homepage has been played nearly 247,000 times. Those figures were good enough for Roadrunner Records to take a chance in signing the band. |
On how the band had amassed so much interest and fan support on the internet, guitarist Josh Franklin said that the internet success was made off the old-school concept of word-of-mouth. |
“We got the whole internet thing going for us, huge. The Myspace thing the IM thing, it’s just communicating with people at shows and stuff. You’ve got to interact with people, and that’s what a lot of bands don’t do. You go and see tons of bands and they never come out and talk to people or anything. They never get around to the crowd and they never promote their own website or their own this or that, merch, etc. It’s all about communication and interacting with the fans.” |
Faktion is set to release its self-titled debut on March 21, and the band’s first single is “Take It All Away.” The album was produced by Dark New Day and former Creed and Virgos member Brett Hestla, and it was mixed by Grammy nominated engineer Chris Lord-Alge, who has worked with Green Day, No Doubt, and Foo Fighters. |
