EX-BIZKIT BORLAND TENDS TO BLACK LIGHT BURNS
Former Limp Bizkit gutiarist Wes Borland is back with a new band Black Light Burns, a new album, and he talked about his new endeavor. |
Wes Borland is set to release an album with his current band Black Light Burns in August titled Cover Your Heart and the Anvil Pants Odyssey. The band released an album in 2007, and the soon-to-be-released effort features covers of Love and Rockets, PJ Harvey, Duran Duran, and Iggy And the Stooges, among others. |
Borland broke with Limp Bizkit for the second time last year, and stated that Fred Durst and crew were his sideband to Black Light Burns. Borland talked with us about the forming of the band, and the input of Nine Inch Nails Danny Lohner for their 2007 debut, Cruel Melody. |
“I brought… I was demoing all the songs by myself, and then I brought them all into Danny and asked him if he wanted to produce and basically help to bring to fruition the first album. Since I was working alone, I wasn’t really trying to put a band together at time. Danny was working on different projects as was I. Black Light Burns sort of started as a project sound as a project, and not as a band, really. The more we worked on it the more it came together as a band, and the more band-like the music started to sound as it developed.” |
He talked about trying to find members for Black Light Burns. |
“I found all the guys pretty quickly who were to form the live band, and they’re such good players that there wasn’t any need to get anybody else to play on the records from there on out. As we moved into the idea of… the covers record came up. It’s what we as a band had been talking about on tour already and not something that I had been thinking about.” |
Borland said that doing covers for Cover Your Heart and the Anvil Pants Odyssey helped Black Light Burns refine their sound. |
“The interesting thing about the covers album is that although we were doing covers I think we started to find more of our sound in pursuing the covers. It was strange because we had to concentrate on what we wanted them to sound like.” |
Black Light Burns are offering their works in digital form in a unique, tiered distribution system. Fans can go online through theborlandgallery.com to order product from basic songs, to a complete deluxe package. The Anvil Pants Odyssey, the DVD component of the package, contains a 100-minute tour documentary filled with behind-the-scenes footage from their tour, Behind The Lie: Making the ‘Lie’ Music Video, plus three music videos from their debut album. |
