EWAN McGREGOR REJECTS OLDEN ENGLAND
Ewan McGregor much prefers modern times because he despises the old-fashioned customs and facial hair. |
Scottish born Ewan McGregor makes him home in London where the period film Miss Potter was shot depicting Victorian times. |
Ewan wonders whether he could make a go of living in the early nineteenth century. |
“But I don’t know about all the rules and the constrictions. Certainly not the snobbery and the class system which still exists this day in Britain, there’s no question about that but then the idea of not being allowed to marry and organizing marriages just due to who came from the right family and the right career. I’m glad that we’ve moved on from there for sure.” |
One thing Ewan is glad he doesn’t have to put up with in modern times is the bushy mustache his character sported as a 19th century book editor in Miss Potter that he tried to cover it up with a hat. Ewan prefers himself clean shaven and his wife Eve couldn’t agree more. |
“Not so keen on the mustache, no. It’s nice in the film, and your period clothes on set look great, but, as soon as you’re in contemporary London with a big moustache, it’s quite weird. It’s quite difficult to pull off. I tried my best. I found a hat helped. If you wear a hat somehow it balances off the big tash.” |
Next Ewan teams up with Hugh Jackman and Michelle Williams in The Tourist as a high end businessman involved in sex clubs. |
