Amy Lee of Evanescence read at the Grammy Nominations last week in Los Angeles, but despite the band not being nominated for a Grammy Awards for their latest effort, The Open Door, she still feels the band has been successful. |
Lee, who read nominations with the likes of Justin Timberlake, James Blunt, and KT Tunstall, talked about who she thinks will win this year’s awards. |
“You mean, because they’re all here I can’t say who I really like? I thought there was a really great nominations. I do really love Mary J. Blige, I really do like Justin Timberlake’s new album, and I think James Blunt is a great new artists. I’m glad and I expeted that he’d be nominated for Best New Artist. I think they’re all really great.” |
Lee has two Grammy Awards, one for Best New Artist and one for Best Hard Rock Performance for “Bring Me To Life.” Both of them were awarded in 2003. Lee said despite not being nominated the band has had a successful run supporting their new effort. |
“It is going really well. I’ve been touring a whole bunch. We’re just back. I’ve only been back in the [United] States for about a week. We have been touring in Europe, and I have a little break, sort of. I’m still doing press and everything, but then back on the road next year. So, it’s going really well. It’s being received even better than I had hoped.” |
Lee isn’t just consoling herself. The Open Door has recently been certified platinum by the Recording Industry Association of America for sales of one million copies. The previous release, Fallen, has sold over 14 million copies worldwide. |
