EVANESCENCE REPLACES DEPARTED MEMBERS FOR A DARK NEW DAY
Evanescence has replaced their departed members with two veterans, and we have the skinny. |
Evanescence fired guitarist John LeCompt and drummer Rocky Gray has quit the band, but they promptly filled those spots with some proven veterans. An announcement was made that Will Hunt and guitarist Troy McLawhorn, both of Dark New Day — the project featuring the Lowery Brothers Clint (ex-Sevendust) and Corey. |
The duo will take the places of LeCompt and Gray immediately, but statements by the two former members can be found on their websites. Evanescence went through similar turmoil after the first record when Evanescence co-founder Ben Moody left the band. At that time Lee was not too pleased as she spoke backstage collecting her awards for their debut album. |
“Um, yeah, definitely. Ben and I wrote almost all of Fallen together, but bands evolve and things change and I think that this can do nothing but make us better. It’s not so much as Amy Lee, but it’s definitely a new band, a new day, and a new chapter — hopefully a better one, a happier one, and a healthier one for everybody.” |
Moody was eventually replaced by former Cold member Terry Balsamo, and Moody is still penning hits. He recently won the BMI Song of the year for his co-writing on the song “Because Of You,” the hit for former American Idol winner Kelly Clarkson. |
