EVAN RACHEL WOOD DISCOVERS DYSFUNCTION

Evan Rachel Wood stars as Natalie Finch in Running With Scissors, the daughter in the Finch family who takes author Augusten Burroughs under her wing and into her home when his mentally challenged mother played by Annette Bening can no longer take care of him.

Evan says it wasn’t hard to feel the dysfunction going on every time she walked onto the dilapidated set.

“At first I think she really takes him under her wing because she knows how to survive in the Finch house. She’s just really kind of street-wise in that way. I’ve seen it all. You can’t shock me. OK come with me and I’ll show you how it’s done. It’s kind of weird because by the end of it he’s kind of the one taking care of her. He kind of suppresses her strength and he gets out of there. She’s still stuck.”

Next Evan stars in the musical film Across The Universe, a love story set to The Beatles music where she gets to sing such fab four tunes as Blackbird and Lucy In The Sky With Diamonds.rn

“I mean every time I walked on the set and put on the red platform shoes and looked around the house and looked at all the dirty dishes on the stairs and all the taxidermy animals. It was like where I am. I brought my mom to set. That was the best. What are you doing everyday? Oh you know I’m just here. Here’s the director. I think Ryan was afraid to meet my mom because she might’ve thought he was abusing me or something.”
