EVA MENDES SHOWS SERIOUS SIDE

Eva Mendes learned alot about acting from her co-star Joaquin Phoenix.

When Eva Mendes discovered she would be working with Joaquin Phoenix in We Own The Night she was both nervous and excited. She was nervous to play the girlfriend of the Oscar contender and excited to be working opposite such a skilled actor.

Eva talks about how his style of getting to the truth made her better.

“What I really love and respect about him is his work ethic and how committed he is to his character and to the project. He won’t stop until he gets the absolute truth from a scene and I love that. He definitely made me a better actor, absolutely.”

Not all her scenes with Phoenix were of a serious nature considering he plays the owner of a popular nightclub. Eva says she was a bit of a party girl.

“Kind of ideal depending on who you’re talking to as far as they’re very just carefree and that Bobby manages this club and she helps him out so it’s definitely always kind of a party atmosphere and a lot of late nights and a lot of fun.”

Eva uses her skill and charm in Cleaner coming out this year as the grieving wife of a murder victim discovered by Samuel L. Jackson’s crime scene cleaner. We Own The Night opens Friday, October 12th in theaters.
