EUGENE LEVY LAUGHS AT HOLLYWOOD AGENTS

In Hollywood actors change theatrical agents and their agencies just about as frequently as they change their minds. In For Your Consideration Eugene Levy is the co-partner of Dorkman Orfkin Agency a.k.a. DOA who can never seem to get any of his clients the all important Oscar worthy gig.

In the film Eugene’s agent lies on the seedier side giving his client Harry Shearer empty promises until he delivers Oscar buzz for his performance in Home For Purim and then he’s off to the races getting him hilarious endorsement deals.

“The premise of the agency was that his late partner was actually the brains of the outfit and when he died most everybody jumped off what they thought was a sinking ship. And Morley is now left with a very small agency still called DOA.”

Levy loosely co-wrote the much improvised script with director Christopher Guest who also stars as the director of Home For Purim.

“There’s something fun about the subject matter, about this business and we’re giving it a very kind of light, funny approach. This is not what I call a zinger. We’re not zinging the business here. We’re having fun with it as people who are in the business and we could appreciate it.”
