ERIC BANA DEALS POKER AND ROMANCE

Eric Bana got to learn how to play poker and do love scenes courtesy of Drew Barrymore in Lucky You.

Munich star Eric Bana plays a poker shark in Lucky You who has to deal with a lot more than winning and losing when he enters a tournament in Las Vegas.

Eric sat around the table with professional poker players who advised his every move. He says anyone who enjoys the game will be impressed with the film.

“If you’re a real poker buff you almost can’t be disappointed with the film. There’s just so much poker and the amount of thought that’s gone into the hands and the bets. I mean everything has been so meticulously planned. Because we always had three or four pros at the table and everyone is weighing in going, ‘hey if it’s an eight of diamonds it’s a different decision for him if it were an eight of hearts,’ so sure enough the eight of diamonds goes out and the eight of hearts comes in. It was pretty amazing.”

You might say Eric lucked out working with Drew Barrymore who plays his love interest in the film.

“Has been nothing but fun to work with and we’ve had some tricky stuff to do together. I haven’t had to do a lot of romance on screen and had quite a bit in this movie. And so it was essential that we got along otherwise that stuff wouldn’t have been fun at all but we made it fun and she was just nothing but a treat really.”

Spending time with the real deal poker players also improved Eric’s game and he found himself betting on how many takes to film the scene. Lucky You opens today in theaters.
