ENCHANTED ENCHANTS AUDIENCES AT BOX OFFICE
Enchanted is number one at the Thanksgiving weekend box office. |
It looks as though movie audiences preferred magic after their Thanksgiving feasts to bug monsters and Bob Dylan as Enchanted has taken number one at the box office over the holiday weekend. |
The happily ever after tale turning beloved Disney animation into live action on the streets of New York City earned $35 million at the box office. The sweetness of Enchanted comes from enchanting actress Amy Adams who plays Princess Giselle who flits around Central Park like she’s a real Disney princess. |
“I just step onto set and it’s all of these amazingly talented people that they’ve gathered to do this film. I mean it’s a real honor to get to work with everybody. Just in Central Park alone we’ve got old Broadway hoofers and we’ve got amazing Olympic athletes and roller dancers. We’ve got it all and so many people bringing their energy and their talent to this film. It’s really fun. It’s very rare.” |
Director Kevin Lima had to lead large choreographed dance numbers where Giselle attracts a merry band of colorful characters through Central Park and in the famed ballroom sequence where she finally meets her one true love played by Patrick Dempsey. |
“This is a huge movie. It is big. It’s funny because when you first read the script it seems like a quaint little film but when you really break it down it is huge. Singing and dancing; we had to write five songs. There’s an animation component. We’re all over New York City. We took over the Brooklyn Bridge. We did things that are big in scope, huge in scope. We shot with a helicopter around the Woolworth tower. We did so many big, big things in trying to achieve something that has a real gentle heart.” |
This Christmas, about the reunion of the Whitfield family was second with $19 million while the 3D action packed Beowulf drops from number one to third with $16 million. |
