Soul singer Emily King will release her debut album this August….. |
Soul singer Emily King will release her debut album, East Side Story, in August on J Records. The album was co-produced by former Bad Boy Records Hitman Chucky Thompson who has produced hits for Faith Evans, Total, the Notorious B.I.G., Mary J. Blige, and Sean “Diddy” Combs in the past. The first single from the project is “Walk In My Shoes.” |
King recently completed a stint on John Legend’s North American tour which also featured Corrine Bailey Rae. The 21 year-old bi-racial singer comes from a musical family as both her parents were jazz musicians. King explained how growing up in Manhattan’s Lower East Side, she was exposed to many cultures. She said, |
“There’s so many sub-cultures in New York. And growing up in the L.E.S, East Village, you have, you know I had Chinatown in my backyard, Little Italy, and then you have like the projects over here and you know rich folk on the other side. So just being around all these different types of people and cultures, it really develops your character. You know it’s like having the different countries around you at all times.” |
East Side Story will also feature production from Salaam Remi and songwriting by Floetry’s Marsha Ambrosius. |
