EMILY BLUNT BANNED FROM UNICORN CLUB
Emily Blunt never got over the fact that she was banned from joining exclusive Unicorn Club. |
Emily Blunt plays a married French teacher toying with the idea of having an affair with one of her students which is shot down at the monthly gatherings of The Jane Austen Book Club. |
Emily never belonged to any kind of club, and in fact has sworn off members only institutions as she was devastated from being banned from one at a young age. |
“I was never a part of a club. I don’t think I was cool enough to be involved in a club. Actually you know when I was a kid my two friends started what they called The Unicorn Club, I don’t know why it was called that and I was so desperate to be a part of it I bought those kind of unicorn rings and unicorn little models and stuff and I handed over these gifts which they took and then still told me I couldn’t be in the club. So upset. I was so upset. At seven years old that’s a horrible blow.” |
Emily thinks a book club can be a healthy outlet for adults who may spend their days talking baby talk. |
“Because I think people need an outlet to kind of talk about something intelligent particularly mothers who spend their lives talking to small children. I mean that could be very tedious so I think it is a real outlet for people and kind of shows some brains and to meet new friends and really kind of immerse themselves in something else. I think it could be a bit of an escape for people so I think I see totally why people want to go into book clubs. And they can be a lot of fun. I think people talk about a lot of stuff other than books at them. Talk about shoes and stuff.” |
The Jane Austen Book Club which features an ensemble cast of women actors Amy Brennerman, Maria Bello, and Kathy Baker is currently playing in theaters. |
