EMILE HIRSCH IS LEADER OF THE PACK

Emile Hirsch relates how easy it is for a group of friends to be influenced by the alpha dog.

Emile Hirsch stars as Johnny Truelove aka Jesse James Hollywood, a wealthy drug dealer who ordered his friends to kill an innocent teenager, then eluding justice until captured in Brazil. The details surrounding the murder are dramatized in Alpha Dog focusing on this group of rich kids who resort to unspeakable behavior because they’re bored, unsupervised and misguided.

Emile justifies how things can go horribly wrong when friends are just hanging out together, and what the movie tries to convey.

“Some kids make really stupid decisions and are total boneheads and then you add on top of that inebriation being in the wrong place at the wrong time. I mean hopefully something someone will take away from it is not make the same mistake they did.”

Emile says it wasn’t hard to relate to his character who is the leader of the pack in his circle of friends, the alpha dog.

“Most guys are like that. Most guys hang out in groups and talk trash and just hang out. I mean like everybody does that. I don’t know any group of guys that don’t do that when they get together. Maybe not in that exact way or say the exact things but it’s the same dynamic. In every group of guys there’s always like an alpha dog. There’s always one of them. It’s just like human nature practically, you know.”

An alpha dog has to learn his tricks from somewhere. Bruce Willis plays Emile’s father who is a bit shady when it comes to parenting skills.
