ELTON JOHN ON GRAMMY DUET WITH LADY GAGA
Elton John talks about Lady Gaga and Gnomeo & Juliet at Sunday’s premiere. |
In a night filled with amazing performances from Taylor Swift, Beyonce, Dave Matthews, Bon Jovi, The Black Eyed Peas, Pink and a star studded tribute to Michael Jackson in 3D, perhaps the most talked about live performance at the 2010 Grammy’s was the duet between Lady Gaga and Elton John. With both artists seated side by side on dualing piano’s, they performed a mash up fusion of Gaga’s “Speechless” and Sir Elton’s “Your Song.” Elton John is certainly no stranger to Grammy collaborations as fans can remember his 2001 performance of “Stan” with Eminem. |
Just after rehearsing his duet with Lady Gaga, Elton John talked about why he’s so impressed with Lady Gaga and why’s she’s the only exciting artist in Pop music at the moment. |
“Oh, it’s just easy. I mean she’s just so down to Earth. That’s the reason I’m doing it, is because I think she’s the best thing out there at the moment. She’s the only exciting thing in Pop Music that’s out there at the moment. When she phoned up and said ‘Listen, do you want to do it?’ I said ‘Absolutely!’ Just like with Marshall doing the Eminem thing. So, she’s very easy to work with. She’s so concise, she know’s exactly what she wants. She’s so organized. She has her own vision. She’s quite remarkable. I’m so impressed with her.” |
Elton John will soon be back on New York’s Broadway as he and David Furnish will be producing the play Next Fall, which opens on March 11, 2010 at the Helen Hayes Theatre with preview performances beginning on February 16. “Next Fall” is an American play written by Geoffrey Nauffts and takes a witty and provocative look at faith, commitment and unconditional love. Lady Gaga will be kicking off another round of tour dates in support of her hit album with dates beginning Feb 18th in Manchester, GB before her tour takes her through New Zealand, Australia and Japan extending until April 18 in Yokohama, Japan. |
