TVT Records lost the latest round in a legal battle with Slip-N-Slide Records when a Miami judge ruled this week that Slip-N-Slide Records may release an album of material that Pitbull recorded in 2001 as long as the album is clearly labeled ‘previously recorded.’ The decision will become final once it is reviewed by a federal judge. |
TVT Records attempted to block the release of the album, Welcome To The 305, because the label believes it has made Pitbull a star and that the record would be confusing to his fans who are expecting new material. But the judge ruled in favor of Slip-N-Slide because the label argued that Pitbull signed over all rights to the recordings when the label granted him a release in 2003 to sign with TVT Records. |
Pitbull’s 2004 album, M.I.A.M.I. (Money Is A Major Issue), was certified gold for sales of 500,000 copies. |
