Rapper E-40 had his highest chart debut this week when his latest album, My Ghetto Report Card, entered the Billboard 200 albums chart at Number Three after selling more than 94,000 copies its first week out. The chart position was a career best for the rapper, but his 1996 release Tha Hall Of Game sold more than 123,000 copies its first week to enter the chart at Number Four. |
My Ghetto Report Card also grabbed the Number One spot on the Billboard Top R&B/Hip Hop Albums chart. E-40 explained that he thinks this is the Bay Area’s year to break out nationally. He said, |
“This year is definitely the Bay Area. Last year was Houston. I’m not saying it still ain’t Houston, you know what I mean? It’s a movement. Out there in Houston,you know what I mean, they sideways. You know they got the syrup, you know what I mean? They got the screw music, you dig? You know in Atlanta, crunk. Now they got the snap, the snap music you smell me? So they doing their thing. It’s like different soils you know? Right now we got the Hyphy movement in the Ya area, northern Caliscrillia, yeah!’ |
