E 40 EXPLAINS WHY HE DECIDED TO SIGN WITH LIL JON
E-40 released eight albums while signed to Jive Records and when the rapper’s contract was up he could have signed with anyone. E-40 instead decided to sign with Lil’ Jon’s BME label which is distributed by Warner Brothers. The rapper explained that it was a no brainer because he’s had a relationship with Lil’ Jon for several years. |
He said, |
“It’s just you know me being cool with Jon already, you know what I mean, that made this whole thing make sense. He had already produced a couple of super slappers for me. A song called ‘Rep Your City’ which was one of them ones, you smell me? Then he produced another one called, ‘Anybody Can Get It,’ on my album, Breakin’ News, and you know I was in videos with Jon and we stayed in contact. You know his production, Jon ain’t just your ordinary producer, man, that dude do it all, you dig? So it’s like man let’s do it. Let’s make it unfold. We got together. He got a situation over at Warner. BME/Warner, here we is, right here, you smell me? It’s gratifying man.” |
The rapper will release his new album , My Ghetto Report Card, on March 14th. The album features collaborations with Mike Jones, UGK, Lil’ Scrappy, Bohagon, Too Short, Juelz Santana, 8Ball, and T Pain with production by Lil’ Jon, Kanye West, Rick Rock, and E-40’s son Droop-E of the Pharmasuticles. |
The first single from My Ghetto Report Card is “Tell Me When 2 Go” featuring Keak Da Sneak. The album will also feature a documentary detailing the Bay Area’s hyphy movement. |
E-40 will also be releasing his own Cloud 9 liquor and a special slang dictionary with all of his catchy phrases in the coming months. |
