There were a lot of reasons to be spooked out by The Messengers. Even though it was purely fictional star Dylan McDermott felt the eerie effects of the haunted house and the ghosts that his teenage daughter in the film claims to be seeing. |
Dylan says even the location of Indian Head, Saskatchewan in Canada where the film was shot conjured up scary images. |
“This was a really spooky movie to make because you know you have a haunted house. You have ghosts. You have crows. You have special effects. You have the Pang brothers these two Chinese twin brothers from Hong Kong and you have Sam Raimi the award winning producer from Spider Man so you have so many things going on in this movie that every day was such a challenge, and the location that you’re talking about in Saskatchewan which is just wide open space and really, really spooky stuff.” |
Dylan doesn’t deny the existence of ghosts. In fact he swears he saw something while making Steel Magnolias that wasn’t explainable. |
“I actually have you know. I know that there’s something else out there. I’ve seen, when I was making Steel Magnolias I saw something in Louisiana in 1989 that was kind of like, ‘whoa what’s that?’ I don’t know but it was something. So I kind of believe that there’s stuff out there that we can’t see. And this movie certainly taps into that.” |
Next Dylan turns to drama with A West Texas Children’s Story playing a beatnik married to Heather Graham who take in their niece and nephew after they’ve run away from their abusive parents. |
