DROWNING POOL GAINING STEAM WITH STITCHES
Drowning Pool is booked on CrueFest and has possibly its biggest hit in “37 Stitches” since bodies, and Mr. McCombs shares his thoughts. |
Drowning Pool has been called one of the best survival stories of Rock by Motley Crue’s Nikki Sixx, who has booked them on their CrueFest tour which starts July 19. The band’s lead singer Dave Williams died in 2002 while on tour as their single “Bodies” was a bonafide hit for them. Soil’s Ryan McCombs became the singer four years ago, and their latest single “37 Stitches” has entered into the Top 10 in the Active Rock radio format. |
We asked McCombs about what Dave would think about the band’s success since his passing. |
“Oh, he’s smiling down on us. He’s gotta be. I hope so. I wish he was here. I know that would put me out of a job, but he was a good friend and I wish he was here because he’d be lovin’ it right now.” |
We also asked him about approaching shows knowing that “37 Stitches” is doing so well. |
“I think it’s a good mixture even though the people that may have gotten turned on to us moreso because of ’37 Stitches’ or ‘Enemy’ or our affiliation or our work with the IABA or the USO, even those people have heard of ‘Bodies’ before. Even if they went to the show for ’37 Stitches’ when ‘Bodies’ comes on they’re going to lose their mind just like everybody else in there. It’s just one of those songs. I think we’d get our butt kicked if we didn’t do the old stuff. And I love doing it. It’s paying homage to our brother up there.” |
CrueFest 2 also features Godsmack, Theory Of A Deadman, and Charm City Devils. Drowning Pool just released the live album, “Loudest Common Denominator.” |
